I am excited to announce a new and innovative change happening in the upper grades at CPS this coming school year! Starting August 2018 your students will have the incredible opportunity to experience learning with specialized educators. Having earned both my Bachelors of Science and Masters of Education in Mathematics, my true passion and area of expertise is in having fun with numbers and teaching students how to do the same. And I am happy to say this year I will be teaching all third grade students mathematics and Ms. Bashaw will teaching literacy. Students will have their own homerooms and homeroom teachers will be teaching other subject areas such as Science, Social Studies, Writing, and Computer Literacy. Students will continue to have Specials (P.E., Music, Art...) and these will be with their homeroom group. I am also looking forward to offering special interest "clubs" for students to join such as a journalist club, newsletter committee, Girl CODE, Boy CODE, and of course a math and tech club. If your student expresses interest in one of these activities a permission slip will be sent home with further details and meeting times. Please come back to this site often for further updates and classroom happenings throughout the year!

AuthorHello! My name is Miss Shannon and this will be my 5th year teaching at CPS. After teaching kindergarten for several years, I transferred to third grade and I am loving it! Although my years teaching kindergarten were some of my favorite times, third grade is a year where your student becomes more independent and vested in their learning. We experiment in science, manipulate numbers, compare fractions, multiply and divide in math, conduct research and develop our writing and so, so much more. It is a year of hard work and perseverance and of course a whole lot of fun in the process. Meaningful friendships are established amongst students and they learn how to work together and collaborate on a variety of projects. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!
