We are off to a great start with learning our multiplication facts and I couldn't be prouder! Students in both math groups have worked diligently at the start of every class to learn their facts. So far we have mastered our 0s and 1s facts. We will be starting Karate Math on Monday, at which time all students will be awarded their first belt for mastering their ones facts. We will begin learning our 2s next week. Students will earn their next belt after each fact (0-10) is mastered. Students will have a belt advancement sheet here at school to keep track of their progress. Students can take a picture of their belt advancement document and post it on their student Class Dojo accounts where you will be able to see and comment on how well your child is doing.

Mystery Doug uploads new video clips every week based on curious questions from students across the nation. Each video is a fun and informational 5 minutes. At the end, students can ask Doug a question of their own and/or vote on a question for the following week. Each week a new question is picked, and who knows, maybe your students question will win! AuthorHello! My name is Miss Shannon and this will be my 5th year teaching at CPS. After teaching kindergarten for several years, I transferred to third grade and I am loving it! Although my years teaching kindergarten were some of my favorite times, third grade is a year where your student becomes more independent and vested in their learning. We experiment in science, manipulate numbers, compare fractions, multiply and divide in math, conduct research and develop our writing and so, so much more. It is a year of hard work and perseverance and of course a whole lot of fun in the process. Meaningful friendships are established amongst students and they learn how to work together and collaborate on a variety of projects. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!
